St Peteks - written on the 8th Sep 2006 - 13:25 - Message #1
St Peteks is near the Othello tower in Famagusta. It does the most amazing chewy ice-cream in lots of scrummy flavours. The water feature in the cafe bit has terapins in which is good for keeping kids occupied. Serves snacks and meals but we use it for the ice-cream and coffee. There is an amazing shop part to it which does cakes, sweets and chocolates. Give it a try!

Thanks for the info - sounds like my kind of place.
We're flying out tomorrow, so I could be in there in less than 48 hours!

How dare you say they sell sweets and choc's - they have the most scrumptious range on the island - I had the good fortune to be invited ( OK, I begged)to their factory on the Famagusta Border road and not only did they load us up with goodies, but eating the baclava from the tray as they are made is better than sex ( look I am over 60 !

After showing us around, they invited us to lunch - what a day, beats Bournville hands down

Petek is Out - written on the 27th Nov 2006 - 21:20 - Message #5
The locals now prefer Liva Patesserie, worth a try. From the roundabout with the big statute in the centre go towards Nicosia. It is on the left just after the petrol station.

Just fabulous, we have to go there everytime we are in TRNC.

The best selection of cakes I have ever seen.  I put on pounds - but it's worth the visit

Petek\'s - written on the 4th Aug 2007 - 22:36 - Message #8

Try and chat up the owners to do a tour at their factory on the Larnaca Road, about a mile before the border

They played perfect hosts and we even had a picnic in the grounds - the kid I took with me was given a shopping bag that was filled to the brim as we walked round

Having Baclava off the tray was esquisite

Livapastanesi - Famagusta - written on the 7th Sep 2007 - 1:52 - Message #9

I agree that Livapastanesi is worth a try. We have been there a couple of times and enjoyed having tea and chocolate and pistachio cake. All yummy!

Peteks is fab.  The kids loved it although it has gone up in price a bit.

It has gone up vastly in price. Five of us had ice-creams (not eat in ice creams we took them to the park to eat them) and it cost £18!

Turkish Delight - written on the 8th Sep 2007 - 21:28 - Message #12

If you are a fan of Turkish Delight, Peteks is the best I have ever eaten, beating the previous best from a small shop in Fethiye.  It's a bit expensive but delicious.
