Sad News - written on the 24th May 2008 - 10:45 - Message #3

I was with a group of Norman's friends and Norman last night at the opening of the cafe/bar at Marda. He was in extremely good form, as always, full of life, friendship and generousity. I had texts from him this morning as I had to cancel a visit to see his olive trees, which he had so proudly saved from the bull dozers. He was due to sell baigels later at Moon Over the Water. Always on the go, thinkiing of others. My hearfelt condolences to Marrianne, Paul and family.

Blessings to all.

So precious - written on the 24th May 2008 - 10:58 - Message #5
We had the wonderful pleasure of being in Normans company last nite at the opening of the new Cafe Kebab shop at Marda - the whole community here I think feels completely wiped out this morning at this devastating news.  Our sincere condolences to Marianne, Paul and Deborah who we knew and of course to all his family at this sad time.  Norman you were one of a kind, as we said last night your vision for the future was brave but you were doing it with such enthusiam it was almost contagious, you will be sadly missed but always fondly thought of.  Our love and thoughts to all the family.  Peter and Sam Oliver xx

\"Sad News\" - written on the 24th May 2008 - 14:31 - Message #13

I have only found out in the last few hours about this very tragic event.  I spent the day in Normans company on Tuesday in order to write an article on the Bogaz area for the Star which I am currently putting the finishing touches to for next weeks edition.  Although we had never met Norman before, having only chatted by email, he was the very epitome of politeness.  Nothing was too much trouble for him and he looked after my wife and myself superbly.  Please accept our sincere condolances Paul, Marianne and Deborah.

God bless.

condolences to Normans family - written on the 24th May 2008 - 16:39 - Message #17

I am so very very sorry to hear the news today. I have been with Normans friends most of the day, and was expecting Norman for a party at my own house this evening. This news is very upsetting and shocking, and Norman will be greatly missed by all the staff at Busy Bees. Our thoughts and prayers now are with his family and friends, as well as  all his associates. We also send our prayers to ore, his business partner, who is naturally devistated, and also to his very best friends on Hilltop,  Bev and Trev Currie.

Our sympathy is extended to the above mentioned, and all that knew and loved his charm and lovely enthusiasm for North Cyprus and life in general.. His help and love of the Island and the people in it will never be forgotten.

I was not making an announcement of Norman's passing, on behalf of the committee.  I just wanted to pay my personal repsects to the family, as I'm sure everyone else would. I am sure that those members of Norman's family who use the site would of heard the news before me. I did not mean to upset anyone, I It was done with no mallice just desire to say how sorry I was to hear of the news.

Norman, a great Man - written on the 25th May 2008 - 9:11 - Message #30

Such very sad news, our thoughts are with you at this time.

Death is nothing at all,
I have only slipped into the next room
I am I and you are you
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.
Call me by my old familiar name,
Speak to me in the easy way which you always used
Put no difference in your tone,
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household world that it always was,
Let it be spoken without effect, without the trace of shadow on it.
Life means all that it ever meant.
It it the same as it ever was, there is unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near,
Just around the corner.
All is well.

“Just think of me and I will be there”

Condolences to Marianne and Paul - written on the 25th May 2008 - 13:46 - Message #36

Sook and I are saddened to learn of Norman’s passing away. We remember The Silvers as the first family we got to know at Hilltop back in 2006 and ever since then, together with Bogaz.info, we have always associated Bogaz with Nog. For that’s how towering of a figure he was in the Bogaz community. I once jokingly told Norm that I would vote for him to be the next Mayor of Bogaz, to which he laughed in the way only Nog can and proceeded to jest with one of his anecdotes. I will miss those anecdotes. I will miss his sense of humour. I will miss his optimism of life. And I will miss those challenging discussions we shared. It’s indeed a sad day for Bogaz.

Our sincere condolences to Marianne, Paul and the rest of the family. May Norman rest in eternal peace.

I am very sorry to hear Norman passing away and I was very shocked as I only saw him Friday night at the opening of a cafe and market. Norman was very happy and I went over and kissed and congratulated him of the opening and Norman had asked me of what I had thought of the it and I had said it was lovely and he agreed and said ' I think it is great' and had the biggest smile on his face. I will never forget that, that is how I will remember Norman. I met Norman at my mother inlaws cafe and had done interrupting for him with Ugur and he had asked me many times to work with him when he had opened Marda. Opening Marda was one of Normans dream and I hope it will come true as I know he would be very very happy.

SAD LOSS OF OUR BELOVED FRIEND - written on the 26th May 2008 - 10:59 - Message #46

Norman was my best friend, our family friend, my golf partner, and business partner..We are shocked of his loss and cannot express our sadness of his death. He was a person full of life, a respectable businessman, a loving personality and a wonderful heart for me and my family. I would like to send my condolances to Marianne, Paul and all of his family and friends that love him.

We were all there at the opening of Seven and More and had great time with Norman and as usual, his loved ones were all there too. Me and Norman last spoke on saturday morning, half hour before his death  and talked about the opening of Seven and More and also made arrangements to play golf the very next day, sunday. We still can't believe that he is gone and left us without his wonderful self.

The road of Seven and More cafe will be renamed from Restaurant Street to NORMAN SİLVER STREET and we will put together another cafe with photographs and souvenir gifts  in memory of Norman which will be opened in two weeks time. He was a very important and a valuable person for all my family, my wife Ulas and my son Mevlutcan, who had gotten ill from the loss of our good friend.

We send out condolances to his wife Marianne and his son Paul and hope that he will rest in peace.

UGUR, ULAS & MEVLUTCAN KASAPOGLU

I was very saddened to hear this. For the last few weeks I have been reading this message board every day, looking forward to seeing people contributions. I showed my friends Nogs pictures and told many a people about his wonderful suggestions. It has excited me alot, I very much looked forward to buying Norman a drink and saying thank-you. It was pure magic some of the feeling I had when I knew I could see and do such things when I visit N Cyprus once more and enjoy the property we have bought.

Thanks once again, you have touched many and will be missed by more.

Such sad news. - written on the 1st Jul 2008 - 21:05 - Message #58

My deepest heartfelt condolances at this extremely sad and shocking news.

Although I never met Norman I felt I knew him quite well through correspondence and am devastated at this news. He was the powerhouse of this site and larger than life, and so full of energy, it's just not fair to happen to such a great guy, so young. I am a very similar age to Norman and I offer my sincerest condolances  to his lovely wife Marrianne and Son Paul, and any other family members. At least though he seemed to live such a full life and that's what really counts, but he will be very much missed by so many.

He was always there to help and advise anyone on anything , just a smashing guy.
